For several years, Kazik Gasior's research has focused on a very specific form of expression: waste, a sign of our contemporary world consumed by consumerism, materialism and artifice. True ancestral values such as friendship, love and spirituality.... are being supplanted by the reign of matter. The compressed, crushed, brightly coloured, even aggressive waste contrasts with the organic, natural forms of the sculptures. Nature and artifice seem to exist side by side in a space in danger. This rubbish is not used to depreciate the notions mentioned, but to enhance them. This is part and parcel of a concern to safeguard a moral heritage in perdition. We are confronted with a universe invaded by the evils of progress, and which seems to be heading towards self-destruction, as Kazik Gasior's sculptures testify.
