By choosing a material that is thousands of years old, Kazik Gasior emphasises the immutability of stone. Each sculpture carries within it the symbolism of time, so dear to the artist. Kazik Gasior awakens forms that have been asleep for so long in order to breathe new life into the material. Shapes suggested, erased, buried and rediscovered by the power of the creative breath. This theme of time evokes the power of matter, unchanging and unaltered since the dawn of time. Present before the appearance of man, the power of stone will continue to manifest itself after the disappearance of the human kingdom. It is in defiance of this past and future that the sculptor has decided to mark this material with a slight human imprint, a sign of our passage on earth. From this perspective, the intrinsic power of stone is matched by human fragility, and the immutability of the material is matched by the ephemeral nature of the human race, all signs that invite us to be humble.
